Shimmers
Machineforest
Sayat Nova
Insula

~~~~~~~~~~~
Shimmers is inspired by the Darren Aronofsky movie ‘The Fountain’.  My reaction after reading the information about the film that, the clouds and those cosmic imagery were actually deep-sea microorganisms affected me a lot. And I wanted to create this kind of confusion on this particular track.  There are shimmers, infinity, amorphous and floaty , but it’s hard to comprehend, understand the scale or size of these occurrences. The alternative titles to this track were Ex-Nihilo (out of nothing) or The Fountain. But I ended up with ‘Shimmers’ to kill-hide clues. Leave it all to the listener.
I remember when Machineforest came to me. It was a spring afternoon and I was half awake half asleep lying in my bed. I was dreaming a forest, a forest where trees and every other natural belongings were replaced with gigantic, shiny machines. They did seem to be right-true there, this true belonging somehow made sense. Even the image of real forests started to lose its logic. So here I tried to create a machineforest with almost a holy feeling to it, I guess choral work helped that a lot.
Sayat Nova is also inspired by universe. Considering the fact I’ve spent my childhood obsessed with universe and sky it’s not very surpising these tracks come out of me. Here we can hear a massive explosion over and over again getting bigger and bigger each time, universe expanding perhaps. It also is reverberating in a bigger environment each time. And if I have to make another assumption over my creativity, I guess I also must have been inspired by hearing that actually we all were created from a supernova (explosion of a dying star). So I imagined a sound full of everything, a sound which is capable of creating a world so rich like this one. So I guess it’s just an imaginative imitation
Years after, I was passing through my kinder garden with my car. I stopped and walked through the park and felt stuck between past and now. The place where I was crazy about once was now dusty and bleak. So images of the present and the past blurred and melted into each other, time lost it’s sensibility perhaps like in a drug induced trance. It was both nostalgic and sorrowful. Then I drove away.
At this time I think of noting down the guest appearances.  I’m afraid I might forget later on. Especially considering that they are not mentioned on package I believe it’s crucial on their behalf.
- Bassoon and cello samples are from Svefn Plural’s ‘Featherstep’ You can see their names on a page which will be created later on.
- Droning sound on ‘Insula’ again by Svefn Plural’s ‘Beautiful Apocalypse’
I guess it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Resin of Ashberry was born from an adopted thought of Le Corbusier. Me and my friends from Music faculty were discussing about his architecture and the way he found places for his houses. We thought how it would result if we would slip away from our identities and become the instruments of nature? We recorded the music totally improvisational on behalf of uniqueness and timelessness. Of course the originality of  sounds and the appearance of land alternate from one place to another especially considering the fact some of the field recordings were added later on.
I find it extremely important to remark that I haven’t played any instrument on this record, I was only responsible from the mixing and the maximum level of creativity that can be achieved-unleashed at that stage. But I must say it’s one the shiny things in my life.
And lastly another lovely thing to mention is that now it’s complete and tomorrow we are gonna return one to the land. Of course with our sincere apologies for the Compact Disc is gonna cause the nature.
We had to hid one package somewhere in the land where we recorded it, where a piece my heart still belongs to.
